Who is Radical?

The origin of assertion 'religious right' came from Democratic Congressional Chairman, Rep. Vic Fazio, in June of 1994, and the media and liberals have used it in attacking us, but who has given critical thought to the basis of it?

Those opposed to Judeo-Christian moral influence in government speak only in polarized absolutes while portraying Christians as extremists. This gives most people the impression that Christians are trying to impose their morality on everyone, which is very politically incorrect by today's relativistic standards. This is ridiculous and any objective observer will see it is exactly the opposite. The left's imposition of their morality on all of us via education reforms and the entertainment industry is what has given rise to Christian political activism. Most of us have felt threatened by the rapid moral decline and have wanted to stop it. We don't want our children being taught values and morals that contradict our own, yet that is what the public school system does when it excludes any mention of God, and promotes condom distribution.

Unfortunately most of us are too busy to really think through these labels, and we make quick decisions based on continually promoted notions. Christians are less radical (departing from the mainstream of what this country is based on or about) than the left-leaning media which clearly wants to move us to more socialism and further away from our God-fearing and God-honoring roots. To make themselves appear middle, they push us to the right.

But consider:

USA Weekend, the Sunday magazine insert, did a story on religious conservatives in Sept. 1994. Ralph Reed was on the cover. They asked readers to respond to the question, "Are religious values essential to democracy or are religious values a threat to democracy?" In the largest response in USA Weekend's history (almost 60,000) an overwhelming 86% agreed with Reed. Only 14% said that they were threatened by religious values!

When will the American people wake up to the blatent misrepresentation and manipulation that is going on? Christians being involved in the political system is not only appropriate, but should be seen as a contribution. Where is the notion of politically-correct tolerance for other's views? Isn't it hypocritical to be tolerant of virtually anything except Christian political activism?

Those who oppose us pretend to be neutral and have their basis of belief in reason and science, but they are as radical in terms of their thinking and among the most passionate in their tactics. Their view of what is best for America - simply isn't. It would be completely without morality! Complete tolerance of every behavior...except for the behavior or convictions of Christians.

Most importantly, the secular left would remove the notion of linkage of liberty and freedom from morality. Our nation is based on self-restraint and self-control, when these are diminished then laws and regulations must be imposed to limit excesses and wrongs.
